Jennifer Aniston Named Top Covergirl by Forbes

Former Friends star Jennifer Aniston has been named top magazine covergirl, following a Forbes.com study of best-selling stars.

The site analysed the sales of six weekly magazines over six months to determine the list, which saw Aniston’s ex husband Brad Pitt take second place.

“We eliminated all non-celebrity and collage covers as well as special issues with exceptionally large base rates,” Forbes.com said.

“Then we counted how many more-or-less issues the celebrity’s cover sold, as compared with the magazine’s average newsstand sales.”

Scarlett Johansson ranked third, followed by Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon then Katie Holmes.

Unfortunately Britney Spears’ recent troubles have also hit her selling status, placing her last among the cover faces.

Little consolation is likely to come with the news that Paris Hilton was the only celebrity with a lower rating.

Halle told US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey: "While I was trying to get pregnant, we tried really hard, so it was a lot of staying home and just doing what you do."

The 41-year-old star revealed she tried everything to conceive, and even believed saving all her negative pregnancy tests would help her chances.

She added: "I'm sort of superstitious, so I saved all of the negative pregnancy tests in a drawer.

"Don't ask! I don't know why, but I did. After about 35 tests, we finally got a positive test."

Although twice-divorced Halle is blissfully happy with Gabriel, 31, she has no plans to walk down the aisle again.

She said: "What Gabriel and I have decided is we will just redefine marriage for ourselves. That paper isn't worth anything to me anymore. I don't want to do that again. I feel more married in a way than I ever have in two marriages before."

Halle's marriage to professional baseball player David Justice ended in divorce after four years in 1996. She separated from her second husband, musician Eric Benét in 2004, and their divorce was finalised a year later

A criminal investigation is being launched over sexually explicit pictures of reality starlets Kim and Kourtney Kardashian — taken while they were underage.

The sisters, who will star in E!'s "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" this fall, are identified as being in nude pictures that were offered for sale to media outlets yesterday. The women are also seen in sexual poses with a naked man.

But while Kim is 27 and Kourtney is 28, sources say the pictures were taken 11 years ago, when they were teenagers.

After football striker Peter Crouch signed for Liverpool, the pair started dating. Clancy became a fully fledged WAG, and became part of the England teams WAG group during 2006 FIFA World Cup. Britney Spears lost custody of her two sons because she doesn't have a valid driving licence, according to her lawyer. Attorney Sorrell Trope claims Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon also handed Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, over to their father Kevin Federline because Spears failed to take a random drug and alcohol test. The decision to grant Federline physical custody was made in a closed-door hearing in L.A. on Monday.

Trope, tells People.com, "We weren't able to prove compliance with what the judge ordered. Specifically, the judge ordered that by 10am (Monday) morning, both parties show valid California driving licences. I've been unable to produce evidence of that."

According to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Spears - currently charged with misdemeanour hit and run and driving without a valid licence - has never held a valid California driver's licence, but applied for one immediately after leaving court. Spears was also accused in court of failing to attend a drug and alcohol test, imposed by a previous court order. She will have to wait until the next hearing on Wednesday (03Oct07) to learn if she can win back custody of her sons.

Halle Berry says she and her boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry, tried and tried and tried to get pregnant. "So there was a lot of staying home and doing what you do. Like, all the time, around the clock," the 41-year-old Oscar-winning actress said Tuesday on "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

One negative pregnancy test followed another, "and finally, after about 35 tests, we finally got a positive test," Berry told Winfrey in one of her first interviews since announcing last month that she was expecting her first child with Aubry, her boyfriend of two years.

Berry, who is about three months pregnant, told Winfrey she doesn't want to know the sex of the baby.

"There's so few genuine surprises in life anymore that, why not have a huge surprise?" she said. "And I like fantasizing one day it's a girl, one day it's a boy."

Berry won the best-actress Oscar for 2001's "Monster's Ball." She also won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for 1999's "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge."

She said playing a mother in her latest movie, "Things We Lost in the Fire," helped convince her that motherhood was for her.

"I think it validated that I was meant to be a mother because every day I dealt with the character as a mother and thinking as a mother," Berry said. "It let me know that I must be a mother."

Berry said she and Aubry don't plan to marry, but feel fully committed to each other.

"I feel more married, in a way, than I ever have in two marriages before," she said. "He really understands the spiritual connection is so much more important than the paper and the pomp and circumstance and the ceremony."

But Berry said there is something she and Aubry are sure to do: try to have another child.

"There's just one right now," she said. "But we're hoping, right after this one, to do it again."

This time the pair will star in the film Tulia, directed by Oscar nominee John Singleton. The film is based on the true story of a lawyer who exposed a plot by a small town Texas undercover agent who framed 46 African-Americans for drug charges that were later dismissed by Governor Rick Perry. The incident took place in 1999.

The film is based on the book, Tulia: Race, Cocaine, and Corruption in a Small Texas Town by Nate Blakeslee. Karen Croner wrote the script which was originally to be filmed by Carl Franklin. As Singleton’s best films include his from the heart debut, Boyz n the Hood and the historical drama, Rosewood, one would hope this new film might be a return to form after the recent, more commercial projects.

The Mail on Sunday says the star, who plays Hermione, also tried to buy an artwork worth around £15,000. It is by Italian artist Ben Vautier and reads "Je suis incognito ici, faites le savoir" - in English, "I'm incognito here, tell everybody".

Ali Abdelhafidh, who owns the painting at his restaurant, said: "Emma fell in love with it and offered to buy it there and then. The words on the piece seemed to sum up her evening. But sadly it just wasn't for sale.

"They arrived quietly at about 7.30pm and drank champagne and ate lobsters all night. They were clearly loving each other's company and said they were in a very romantic place, with the Mediterranean just in front of them and great music.

"It was great to see a young couple so much in love but Emma had time for everyone else, too. A lot of celebrities come here, including Elton John and Bono, but having Emma here was something special."

Ducker's father John, who lives at the family home in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, told the paper the pair were not an item: "They are just friends – don't read anything more into it than that. My wife and I have met Emma once or twice. She is a lovely young lady."

"We're riding in the car," she explains. "She (Fantasia) has a beautiful voice."

Last-minute shuffles are routine in the world of multiplatinum pop stars, and Ciara's frantic schedule is understandable. She's co-headlining Screamfest '07, an annual, multiact trek that arrives tonight at Toyota Center.

Ciara considers coming to Texas a homecoming of sorts. She was born Ciara Harris at Darnell Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood and spent time in Austin. Her father's military travels took the family to Germany, New York, California, Arizona and Nevada before landing in Atlanta.

Ciara has sold millions of records on the strength of hypnotic dance-floor fillers Goodies, 1, 2 Step and Get Up. Her trick has been smoothing hip-hop's edges with airy vocals and pop hooks. She's collaborated extensively with Missy Elliott and toured with Gwen Stefani.

Despite the momentum, Screamfest is one of the first times Ciara has headlined a large-scale tour.

She calls the endless tour preparations "tedious" but insists it has more to do with challenging herself than with boredom.

"I think you do get more comfortable as you grow as an artist and as you get to travel around," Ciara says.

"But you still have to push yourself. You're still hoping at that first date, your fans love your show."

She's also the only female amid Screamfest's testosterone-fueled bill. It includes T.I., whose T.I. vs. T.I.P. is one of the year's best-selling rap discs; hip-hop sidemen T-Pain and Yung Joc; and R&B heartthrob Lloyd.

The balance, or lack thereof, seems appropriate — necessary, even — for the singer behind Like a Boy, a recent hit from second disc The Evolution. The song's lyrics question gender roles and double standards: "What if I/had a thing on the side/made ya cry/Would the rules change up/Or would they still apply?"

Ciara co-wrote that pivotal tune, and it's an elegant slice of urban pop that blends violin riffs and screwed vocals. She even plays the part of a cheating boyfriend in the black-and-white video

"A guy (can) do something, and it's cool. But when we try to do it, we look crazy," she says. "I knew there were a lot of ladies that felt like that."

It's a refreshing, complex musical statement that typifies Ciara's appeal. At 21, she's a few years younger than contemporaries Beyoncé, Brandy and Alicia Keys. But Ciara also seems light-years ahead of pop singers Hilary Duff and Rihanna, who are closer to her age.

"I have an old soul," Ciara says. "It's something that's in me.

"My friends have always been older. It wasn't about just trying to force that, but it was who I was able to relate to."

Growing up, Ciara felt an artistic connection to Michael and Janet Jackson. She says she met Janet once, "briefly," and had a phone conversation with Michael. (Thriller was one of the first discs she swiped from her father's collection.)

She makes no qualms about striving to capture those superstar siblings' singing-dancing successes. Breakout smash Goodies featured street-flavored footwork, while recent hits Promise and Like a Boy showcased more stylized routines.

Her videos and live performances are a cut above the usual suggestive hip swivels. But Ciara admits — reluctantly — to briefly emulating a once-mighty pop princess.

"One time in high school, I did a Britney Spears impersonation. We were doing different people's videos. I had low-rise jeans, a cropped shirt with (fringe) hanging from it. I was doing I'm a Slave 4 U."

She pauses, then confides another fearful secret.

"I don't know if my friends still have it on tape."

And if you do see Ciara on your local dance floor, don't expect signature moves — Spears-inspired or otherwise (though she says people "absolutely" expect it).

"I try to have fun, but it's weird to go full-out in the club," she says with a laugh. "People look at you like, 'She's about to do a show.' "

Spears Allegedly 'Threatened to Kill' Photographer

Troubled pop star Britney Spears threw a baby bottle and threatened to kill two photographers after they took pictures of her leaving a Las Vegas spa, it has been alleged.

The singer has been accused of threatening to kill Andrew Deetz, who has now instructed his lawyers to sue the star for compensation.

In a lawsuit filed in Las Vegas, Deetz claims he and his colleague Kyle Henderson were attacked by Spears' bodyguard Julio "JC" Camera as they attempted to take photos of the singer and her children, Sean Preston and Jayden James, on Thursday.

In a statement read by Daniel Kogan, a spokesman for Deetz's lawyers, Spears ran toward Henderson and threw a bottle at him before being stopped by security.

Deetz also alleges Spears recommended he get a restraining order against her because she was either going to kill him herself or hire a hitman to do the job for her.

Las Vegas police issued a summons for a charge of battery to Camera on Friday. He could face up to six months in county jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted.

Paris Hilton gets movie musical role

Paris Hilton is going from jailbird to songbird with a role in a movie musical about organ harvesting. Hilton will co-star with Paul Sorvino and Alexa Vega in "Repo! The Genetic Opera," which begins shooting in September in Canada, Hilton's publicist, Elliot Mintz, said Tuesday.

It will be Hilton's first role since she completed a 23-day stay in jail for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case, Mintz said.

The horror rock opera, based on a stage musical, is set in a plague-ravaged future where people can purchase new organs on the installment plan from a corporation called Geneco. The catch is that if the payments stop, the organs are repossessed.

Hilton will portray the fame-seeking daughter of Geneco's owner (Sorvino).

"We saw many actresses for the role, and Paris sang it better than all of them," producer Carl Mazzocone told the Hollywood trade paper Daily Variety in Monday editions.

The director, Darren Lynn Bousman, also praised Hilton.

"I have auditioned at least 30 actresses for this role — Paris came in and owned it," he told Variety. "She is this role."

Just days after splitting with long-term boyfriend Warren Cash, U.S. tabloids are reporting that actress Jessica Alba has been spending time with 50 Cent.

THe Hollywood actress was spotted in the Netherlands with the rapper, real name Curtis Jackson, last Friday where 50 was playing a show as part of his European tour. Sources report the couple were having a romantic evening, with the musician even inviting Alba on stage the following night at his concert and describing her to the crowd as 'the loveliest woman in Hollywood'.

Halle Berry: "I Definitely Want Children. Very Much."

The 40-year-old actress, who is dating 31-year-old model Gabriel Aubry, admits she is ready to have a baby and is thinking about trying soon.
She said: "I definitely want children. Very much."

Halle also insists she will be a strict mother and thinks the most important lesson any parent can teach their child is to realise the importance of hard work.
She told InStyle magazine: "I want my kids to realize it's only through hard work that any success or real joy comes. It's not about money, it's the intangible rewards, it's about having integrity and doing what you say you're going to do."
Halle has made no secret of her desire to have a baby in the past, and had vowed to get pregnant before she turned 40 last August.
She told US chat show host Oprah Winfrey: "If there's no serious man in my life when I get to that age, whoever I'm dating at the time, I'll say, 'Hey, would you like to have a baby?' ''
Halle has also admitted she would be prepared to adopt if she can't conceive naturally, and even contemplated artificial insemination before she started dating Gabriel.
She said last year: "It looks like the only option I have left is to head for the sperm bank! I've been so desperately unlucky in love and that has thwarted my desire for motherhood. It's so frustrating. The only other option would be adoption. I really yearn for a child and I can't wait much longer."

Pamela Anderson And Kid Rock To Divorce

Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock each filed divorce papers Monday seeking to end their marriage of less than four months. Anderson's representative would not comment on the reason or any particulars of the divorce. Anderson and Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, each cited "irreconcilable differences" in their divorce filings in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

"Yes, it's true," Anderson wrote in a brief statement on her Web site. "Unfortunately impossible."

A message left with Ritchie's attorney wasn't immediately returned.

The relationship between Anderson, 39, and Ritchie, 35, has been a turbulent one since they became engaged in 2002. They broke up the following year, but later reunited and held several wedding ceremonies over the summer.

They were wed in late July near St. Tropez, France, and again at a courthouse in Beverly Hills on Aug. 3. They also tied the knot in an Aug. 17 ceremony in Nashville, Tenn.

The pair filed separate divorce petitions, about an hour apart, early Monday. Anderson reported their separation date as Nov. 21; Ritchie said it was Nov. 26.

Pamela Anderson's spokeswoman, Tracy Nguyen, confirmed earlier this month that the actress had suffered a miscarriage.

Lucy Liu has just finished shooting vampire vengeance horror Rise. Lucy Liu has just finished being starkers. "The day before I was supposed to sign the contract, they mentioned that there was a phrase in there," she recalls. "It said, 'There will be European nudity.' I was like, 'What is this? I'm not going to sign this! What's European nudity?'"

So what does it mean? "What it meant, basically, is that Europeans are open and free - so much more relaxed about nudity." Which means...? "There's frontal nudity."

In the new issue of Us Weekly, actress Tara Reid reveals that she underwent reconstructive surgery on Sept 6, 2006, to repair the damage done by a 2004 joint implant-liposuction procedure. Among her revelations:

On why she had plastic surgery in the first place:
“I got my breasts done for the first time because my breasts were uneven. I was a 34-B, but the right one was always bigger than the left. I weigh 110 pounds now, but I always used to fluctuate by 10 pounds, so my skin was kind of saggy. I figured, I’m in Hollywood, I’m getting older, I’m going to fix them.”

On what went wrong:
“First of all, I asked for big Bs, and he did not give me big Bs. He gave me Cs, and I didn’t want them. At all. Right after the surgery, I had some bumps along the edges of my nipples, but the doctor said, ‘Don’t worry, it’s going to be better.’ But after six months of ‘it’s going to get better,’ it started to get worse and worse.”

On being intimate:
"Guys I was dating would be like, ‘What’s wrong with them? They look really bad. You know, you should really get them fixed.’ So embarrassing. I mean, you definitely need to turn off the lights, that’s for sure.”

On getting lipo:
"I got lipo because even though I was skinny, I wanted – I’m not going to lie – a six-pack. I had body contouring, but it all went wrong. My stomach became the most ripply, bulgy thing.”

Teri Hatcher "Sex In A Van" Story

A judge granted the Desperate Housewives star's request to dismiss a lawsuit she filed against the author of a report claiming she used a camper parked outside her home for steamy sexual liaisons, court records show.

The offending story, written by Patricia Nolan, appeared in a pair of British tabloids and the National Enquirer last year. It alleged that the actress would leave her eight-year-old daughter, Madison, alone in her home while Hatcher snuck outside for "sex romps" with a steady rotation of men in a VW bus kept in her driveway for that purpose.

Hatcher successfully sued Britain's Daily Sport and the Sun over the offending story, winning undisclosed damages and a public apology from both publications.

She also accepted an apology from the National Enquirer, which stated it believed that Nolan's report "was fabricated and the story was false," and retracted the article.

"I will never allow any tabloid to so egregiously attack the area of my life which I give top priority, and that is my parenting," Hatcher said of her victory.

The actress had also sued Nolan for defamation, and a default judgment was entered against the reporter in February, according to court records.

A hearing had been scheduled for Tuesday in the matter involving Nolan's alleged failure to abide by the default judgment, but it was canceled after the case was dismissed at Hatcher's request.

The actress' attorney, John Lavely, did not respond to a request for comment on the matter.

Perhaps Hatcher is sick of rehashing the past and wants to concentrate on the future.
